We may be two weeks into 2016, but I'm still feeling the air of new beginnings and fresh starts that comes with the new year. While I don't tend to make new year's resolutions as such, as I don't believe you have to wait until then to start making positive changes, I do think it's the perfect time to refresh, reflect upon the past year and set your goals and intentions for the next. This year my goals are fairly simple, but I think that's all they really need to be.
#1 Don't go more than three days without exercise
One of my first goals for 2016 is to exercise more as I definitely became quite lazy towards the end of 2015. I wasn't sure what kind of routine I wanted to create, but a few weeks ago I read this rule on Instagram and it's been stuck in my mind ever since. I've tried more set and structured routines in the past but often find it just isn't practical, so a simple, more flexible routine is one I'm much more likely to stick to.
#2 Go on more day trips
I mentioned this in my last post, but felt it needed a mention here, too. Where N and I live we're mostly surrounded by city, but there are lots of beautiful parks and beaches well within driving distance. However, we really don't go out and explore half as much as we should, so one of my goals for this year is for us to go on more day trips. I think getting out and exploring the area around us will not only be a refreshing change from our usual day-off routine of watching films in bed, but it will also make us appreciate where we live more, and it will be a nice little break from city life, too.
#3 Always try to be positive
This probably features in everyone's resolutions every year, but I really do think it's an important one. A positive frame of mind can do wonders for your happiness and overall outlook, which in turn brings more positivity your way. This can manifest itself in your relationships, your work, even the opportunities that come your way, and as I want 2016 to be my best year yet, I want to encourage all the positivity I can.
#4 Continue exploring my creativity
As I also mentioned in my last post, towards the end of last year I started to get back in touch with my creativity, and it's been so nice actively dedicating time to it. This is something I really want to take forward and keep working on, and I'm very much looking forward to sharing my work on here with you through this blog. A lot of it will be personal projects I'm working on, but I'm also really looking forward to getting back into photography again through my Project 365, which you can keep up with here.
#5 Get back into cooking
When I was younger I was quite the avid cook, and it's something I would really love to get back into. I have some really lovely cook books sitting on my shelves that I really don't make enough use of, so I'm excited to get stuck into them and make some tasty, healthy dinners for N and I.
And that's it; just five simple, (hopefully) achievable goals for the next year. After two weeks I think I'm doing pretty well, and I'm really hoping to keep them all up.
Have you made any resolutions or set yourself any goals for 2016? If so, I would love to hear them.
